Trump explained that many of the headlines last week were about the Comey hearing, while not as many were about “Infrastructure Week” and her father’s plan to rebuild America’s roads, bridges, waterways and airports.

“With all the intensity of the media coverage and obviously what makes headlines, ultimately we’re really focused on why the American people elected Donald Trump as their president and implementing that plan,” Trump said.

Trump, who serves as special advisor to the president, said that Washington is more challenging than she thought it would be.

“It is hard,” Trump said. “And there is a level of viciousness that I was not expecting. I was not expecting the intensity of this experience. But this isn’t supposed to be easy.”

She said that her father’s administration intends to be “transformative” and accomplish big, bold things.

“We’re looking to change the status quo,” Trump said. “So, I didn’t expect it to be easy. I think some of the distractions and some of the ferocity, I was a little blindsided by on a personal level. I’m trying to keep my head down, not listen to the noise and just work really hard to make a positive impact in the lives of many people.”

She said that her husband, Jared Kushner, who serves in the administration, is also working hard for the American people, pointing to the first family’s overseas trip

“Jared was instrumental in organizing and planning it,” Trump said. “It was wildly successful. Saudi Arabia alone, if you think about the historic nature of gathering 54 Muslim and Arab leaders to talk about the goal of eradicating terrorism.”

“Aside from what he is doing on the foreign policy front, also the various initiatives he is focused on at home, really thinking about modernizing and innovating within government”.
