Actress Chloe Bennet confirmed her relationship with controversial YouTuber Logan Paul on Twitter Thursday.
Bennet defended Paul as a caring, inspiring person who has been beneficial in her life. “It doesn’t make sense to a lot of people, but it doesn’t have too. He’s changed my life for the better and I’ve done the same for him,” she wrote.
Paul also responded to rumors but refused to confirm the relationship explicitly. “Hold on one second now. I haven’t confirmed anything. But, if I had the chance to date this so-called ‘Chloe’ girl, I would be an extremely lucky young man,” Paul Tweeted.
The 26-year-old is a Chicago native, born Chloe Wang. Bennet has played the role of Daisy in Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD series since 2013. She also appeared in TV show Nashville, where she briefly played character Hailey.
Bennet has been vocal about racism against the Asian community in Hollywood. She adopted her father’s name, Bennet, in hopes of being taken seriously in the acting community, she told The Daily Beast in 2016.
“Oh, the first audition I went on after I changed my name, I got booked,” Bennet said. “So that’s a pretty clear little snippet of how Hollywood works.
Bennet also attempted a brief singing career in 2011 and released two bubblegum pop singles: “Uh Oh” and “Every Day In Between.”
Paul has been a part of many controversies, most notably his Japanese Suicide Forest video, which was removed from Youtube in December 2017. The video showed Paul and friends filming a dead body hanging from a tree. The YouTuber received enough backlash to have ads suspended on his YouTube account for a period of time in February, and he inspired YouTube’s latest policy change.
The pair sparked speculation about their relationship on Tuesday when Paul posted a series of Instagram videos on his story, The Blast reported. The videos showed a conversation between Paul and a woman who spoke of Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin’s engagement.
“I want something,” the woman said in response to Baldwin’s ring.
“Is my love not enough?” Paul responded.
“No, absolutely not. You’re a wreck of a person,” the woman said.
Paul later flipped the camera, showing Bennet sitting across the room. He proceeded to join her on a bean bag chair and kiss her forehead.
