Ronaldo wins his 100th Champions League game as Juventus beat Valencia

Cristiano Ronaldo is now a Juventus player but his rivalry with Barcelona’s Lionel Messi remains

Cristiano Ronaldo has set yet another record in the Uefa Champions League.

Already a five-time winner and the competition’s all-time top scorer, the Portuguese celebrated his 100th victory in the Champions League after Juventus beat Valencia on 28 November. The 33-year-old is the first player to achieve the feat.

Ronaldo failed to score against Valencia but he still leads his great rival Lionel Messi in the Champions League record books.

Ronaldo has scored 121 Champions League goals (for Man Utd, Real Madrid and Juventus) compared to Messi’s 105 for Barcelona. In all-time Uefa competitions Ronaldo leads Messi 124-108.

Messi will hope to be on the scoresheet when Barcelona take on PSV Eindhoven on matchday five in group B. The Argentina star scored a hat-trick against the Dutch side when Barcelona won 4-0 on 18 September.

Modric to end duo’s Ballon domination?

In the past ten years only Ronaldo and Messi have won the coveted Ballon d’Or award for the world’s best footballer but that could be set to change.

The 2018 Ballon d’Or award winner will be revealed on Monday 3 December but according to Fox Sports Asia it has been “leaked” that Real Madrid and Croatia star Luka Modric will take the crown.
