“If there is progress in Karabakh issue, border will be opened, railway link restored, relations will develop”
Baku. Anakhanum Hidayatova – APA. Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that they are making preparations to open the border with Armenia and it will be implemented if they can achieve consent of Azerbaijan. APA reports quoting the Aksam newspaper that Davutoglu said it at the meeting with the members of Foreign Affairs Committee of Turkey’s Grand National Assembly.
MP of Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) from Igdir Sinan Ogan said activities are being carried out on Turkey-Armenia border and railway between the two countries, asked whether they are preparation for opening the border. Davutoglu confirmed that they are making preparations to open the border with Armenia. We are acting in this way. If we achieve consent of Azerbaijan, there may be a surprise.”
But Minister said the activities are being carried out as a part of preparations for 2015. “Our demand is the withdrawal of Armenia from Karabakh. We expect progress in this issue. If there is progress, border will be opened, railway link restored, relations will develop. But we want to do it together with Azerbaijan,” he said.
Ahmet Davutoglu is expected to visit Azerbaijan soon.
