Militant attack kills three Egyptian police

Unidentified gunmen have attacked an Egyptian police convoy in the capital Cairo, killing three officers and wounding five others.

According to a statement by the Interior Ministry, the attack took place late on Monday as the convoy was on a main road in the neighborhood of Nasr City.

A stabbing attack by a student on the campus of the University of Texas has left one person dead and three others injured.

A man enrolled at the university went on a stabbing spree with a large hunting knife at the school’s Austin campus on Monday, police said. All of the victims seemed to be students.
