Damascus bombs strike interior ministry entrance: state TV

Three bombs struck the main entrance of the Syrian interior ministry in Damascus on Wednesday, state television reported, adding that one of the blasts was caused by a car bomb.

“Three terrorist explosions caused damage to the interior ministry’s main facade, and there are reports of casualties,” the broadcaster said.

“One of the terrorist explosions that targeted the interior ministry’s main entrance was a car bomb,” it added.

Earlier, the television reported an explosion at the main entrance to the ministry building in the southwestern district of Kfar Sousa.

Several bombings have struck Damascus since an uprising against President Bashar al-Assad’s rule erupted in March last year, among them suicide attacks.

Most blasts have targeted government and security buildings.

Earlier on Wednesday, two bomb attacks killed one person and wounded others in Damascus and a southeastern suburb of the capital, state news agency SANA reported.
