Syria’s interior minister, Mohammad al-Shaar, is receiving medical treatment in Beirut, a security source told The Daily Star Wednesday.
Shaar was lightly wounded last week in a deadly attack on the Interior Ministry in Damascus that was claimed by the Jihadist Al-Nusra front.
The deadly Dec. 12 bombing of the Interior Ministry killed at least five people, a security source told Agence France Presse. Shaar was admitted to hospital with a shoulder wound sustained when his office ceiling collapsed, the source told the news agency.
The Lebanese security source said Wednesday that Shaar, who was “severely wounded,” was received by a group of Lebanese doctors at the American University of Beirut Medical Center amid tight security at the medical center. With AFP
