Three-time US Olympian, Suzy Favor-Hamilton, has confessed of working as a call girl for a Las Vegas escort service last year.
According to New York Post, Favor-Hamilton entertained men in luxurious hotels all across America, being paid $600 per hour for her services.
The 44-year-old mother and wife introduced herself to clients as Kelly Lundy, but some managed to recognize the sports star, putting an end to her double life.
“I was drawn to escorting in large part because it provided many coping mechanisms for me when I was going through a very challenging time with my marriage and my life,” Favor-Hamilton wrote in an apology on Twitter account. “It provided an escape from a life that I was struggling in. It was a double life. I do not expect people to understand, but the reasons for doing this made sense to me at the time and were very much related to depression.”
The middle distance runner said she has been experiencing psychological problems due to the suicide of her brother and postpartum depression.
She also revealed that her husband, Mark Hamilton, knew of what she was doing, but just couldn’t stop her.
“I cannot emphasize enough how sorry I am to anyone I have hurt as a result of my actions and greatly appreciate the support from family and those closest to me. I fully intend to make amends and get back to being a good mother, wife, daughter, and friend,”
The Olympian says she now plans to undergo a course of psychological rehabilitation to be able to return to normal life.
Favor-Hamilton has been the most decorated female athlete in NCAA track and field history before making it to the US national squad to compete at the 1992, 1996 and 2000 Olympics.
She hasn’t won any medals, but still made headlines after deliberately falling in Sydney 2000 1500m final after realizing she could not win.
The tall blond also appeared in television ads, being the face of many famous sports clothing brands, including Nike and Reebok.
