French President Francois Hollande yesterday held talks with National Guard Minister Prince Miteb bin Abdullah on prospects of expanding cooperation between the two countries.
“President Hollande and Prince Miteb discussed major regional and international issues,” the SPA reported, adding Hollande underscored the deep-rooted Saudi-French ties. The French leader also noted that France and Saudi Arabia had identical views on different issues.
Prince Miteb said he was happy to meet with Hollande. “Our two countries, which play an important role at global level, have similar views on many regional and international issues,” the prince added.
The meeting at Elysee Palace was attended by French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Odrian, Saudi Ambassador Muhammad Al-Asheikh, and a number of French officials.
Prince Miteb had a separate meeting with Odrian earlier in the day.
They reviewed bilateral relations, ways of enhancing them in various fields, issues of mutual concern, and latest developments at the regional and international arenas. The French Defense Ministry said that Prince Miteb commended strong relations between Saudi Arabia and France. The meeting reviewed ways of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in general, and the Ministry of National Guard and the French Ministry of Defense in particular.
