PLUS hundreds of miles away, the striker’s team-mates prepare for this evening’s friendly match with Valerenga without him with an Oslo stroll
Luis Suarez appeared isolated in Liverpool training earlier today after revealing he is keen to quit the club.
The Arsenal target had a light kickabout with his daughter at the club’s Melwood Training Ground only a day after pulling up with a foot injury before leaving shortly afterwards.
Suarez had a scan yesterday afternoon and was forced to pull out of a friendly against Valerenga tonight as his team-mates travelled to Oslo.
But as these pictures show, the striker looks lonely in Liverpool following an interview where he made it clear he would like to leave.
In it, he said: “I’m 26, I need to be playing in the Champions League.
“I feel I’ve done enough to be playing in the Champions League at this stage of my career. Now there’s an option for me to do that and I want very much to take it.
“I don’t feel betrayed but the club promised me something a year ago just as I promised them I would stay and try everything possible to get us into the Champions League.
“They gave me their word a year ago and now I want them to honour that. It’s not just something verbal with the coach but something written in the contract.
“I don’t think the supporters are angry, I think they understand a player when he has the ambition to triumph at the highest level.”
He added that he wants to come to an “amicable agreement”.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Liverpool squad have also been in training ahead of this evening’s match.
Steven Gerrard and Brendan Rodgers were among those who passed a decorated Liverpool car in Oslo, taking time to sign it before going for a stroll.
Liverpool have only one more friendly ahead of the season after tonight, playing Celtic in Dublin on August 10.
