The militants raped women and abducted a several people including children, a Press TV correspondent reported on Saturday.
Lattakia and its surroundings have been purged of militants, who infiltrated the region to take control of the mountains by the sea to carve out a coastal path.

According to reports, the West and its regional allies – especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey – are supporting the militants inside Syria.
The United Nations says more than 100,000 people have been killed and a total of 7.8 million others displaced since the outbreak of the violence in Syria.
