Samantha Harris is battling breast cancer.
The former Dancing With the Stars co-host revealed the news Wednesday morning in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
People reports that Harris, 40, plans to undergo surgery for a double mastectomy to treat breast cancer.
The former ET correspondent says she got a routine mammogram last year that revealed no cancer, but she didn’t feel right, so she went to see a specialist, who found a lump in her right breast.
“It felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest,” she tells People.
After having one lumpectomy, Harris received two treatment options: a double mastectomy or a less-radical second lumpectomy with radiation.
“I knew I needed to take control,” says Harris, who is mom to two young girls. Making the decision to get the surgery, she says, has made her feel “so much calmer.”
