Yun Byung-se, Foreign Minister of South Korea, and Wang Yi, Foreign Minister of China, are eager to intensify diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions on the Korean Peninsula, Korean Foreign Ministry says.

“Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two countries have agreed upon acting together to reduce tensions on the Korean Peninsula and ensure peace and stability in the region,” Korean Foreign Ministry says.

Both ministers also discussed North Korea’s nuclear program issue and the upcoming visit of Chinese General Secretary Xi Jinping to Seoul. The telephone talk was held at the instance of China.

Apart from recent launching of rockets, North Korea may conduct a “nuclear test of a new type”, Yonhap news agency reports. This statement has increased tensions and people’s preoccupation in the region.
