FANS were left with whetted appetites on Tuesday morning after a picture of the official cast of the new Star Wars film was released.
The actor, who plays Luke Skywalker, took to his Twitter account earlier today to keep fans in the loop, and gushed over his new friends.
“UK table read – I was knocked out by the diverse & extraordinary talented new cast members,” he wrote.
On Tuesday it was announced that Mark, along with his Star Wars veterans Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher would be featured in the new Disney reboot of the hit franchise with director JJ Abrams.
The announcement came alongside a snap of the cast and crew gathered in a large room, seemingly discussing the upcoming project.
Mark, Harrison and Carrie are set to respires their roles as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia in the highly-anticipated film, which is set to be released at the end of 2015.
A number of new faces will also join the original cast, including 50-year-old Andy Serkis, best known as Gollum in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, as well as British TV actress Daisy Ridley, and Irish star Domhnall Gleeson.
The cast are set to start shooting the science fiction epic in London within the next few weeks.
“We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again,” he said.
“We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”
