British foreign secretary arrives in Georgia from Ukraine

British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs William Hague arrived in Georgia on Wednesday on a two-day visit. “The visit of William Hague holds special significance for us against the backdrop of the Georgia-EU association agreement signing due this June.

This visit also signals support at the NATO summit, which will take place in the UK in September and on which Georgia pins certain hopes,” Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze told reporters on Wednesday.

The UK Embassy in Tbilisi said the Georgian visit of Hague would foster bilateral relations in defense, security, democracy, education and culture. The Embassy said Hague had arrived in Tbilisi from Kyiv where he met with Ukrainian officials.
