US warship pays third visit to Georgia

American frigate USS Taylor has called at Batumi, being welcomed at a ceremony in the Georgian port, the Georgian Defense Ministry said.

US Ambassador to Georgia Richard Norland and the head of government of Georgia’s autonomous region of Adjara, Archil Khabadze, were among those present at the ceremony, which marked the Taylor’s third visit to Georgia.

The frigate’s crew was due to welcome members of the Georgian government in the presence of Norland on Thursday and is going to visit a Georgian naval exercise on Friday, Interfax reports.

The American ambassador was also planning a meeting with the members of the Batumi city administration.

The USS Taylor is due to leave Georgia on Saturday.
