HUGH JACKMAN has spoken about his recent second bout of skin cancer treatment blaming being a “typical lazy man” as the possible reason for his health problems.
The X-Men: Days Of Future Past star, who underwent surgery for the disease last Thursday, says being a bit blasé about his health didn’t help matters.
“It’s all preventable [the cancer], it’s just about getting proper check-ups,” says Hugh.
“I can be a typical man, a little lazy. I couldn’t be bothered and now I’m not lazy at all.”
The 45-year-old star posted a post-surgery photograph with a plaster on his nose on his Instagram account last Thursday with the caption, “All out now. Thanks Dr Albom and Dr Arian. Please! Please! Wear sunscreen!” Hugh says he is prepared for any further treatment.
“I’m realistic about the future and it’s more than likely that I’ll have at least one more but probably many more, which is not uncommon for an Aussie. Particularly one from English stock growing up in Australia where I don’t remember ever being told to put on sunscreen.”
Wolverine actor Hugh was first diagnosed with the common form of cancer last November stating that a carcinoma of nose cells had been removed and posting a similar photo of himself healing from the treatment.
“My wife Deb said to get my nose checked,” he wrote at the time.
“Boy, was she right! I had a basal cell carcinoma.
Please don’t be foolish like me. Get yourself checked. And use sunscreen!!!”
