A Russian draft resolution on Ukraine, filed with the UN Security Council, urges the conflicting sides to bring an end to the fighting, said Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vitaly Churkin. “They [the conflicting sides] are asked to immediately stop the violence and reach a lasting truce accord,” he told reporters in New York City.

In the diplomat’s words, the Russian draft “calls on all sides to abstain from actions that threaten the life and security of the civilian population, the civilian infrastructure and humanitarian aid”.

“We have called for the strict fulfillment of every provision of the OSCE chairperson-in-office’s roadmap and have asked the UN secretary general to support the his efforts to implement this roadmap,” Churkin said.

Russian draft doesn’t call for opening humanitarian corridors in Ukraine – Churkin

A new draft resolution on Ukraine filed by Russia with the UN Security Council, does not contain direct appeals for opening humanitarian corridors, Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vitaly Churkin said.

“I do not think there is a direct reference of the kind,” he told reporters in New York City. Russia lodged a new edition of its draft resolution on Ukraine with the UN Security Council on Thursday. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier was getting “increasingly more alarmed by the lack of any progress in efforts toward ending violence and stopping armed hostilities”.

“We want to concentrate on the need to make sure that the Ukrainian parties start complying with the OSCE chairperson’s roadmap, which was compiled based on the April Geneva statement,” Lavrov said.
