40 years on…rockers Genesis get back together for new BBC documentary

GENESIS, one of the most successful rock groups in history, is to reunite after 40 years.

All the band’s original members – Phil Collins, 63, Peter Gabriel, 64, Tony Banks, 64, Mike Rutherford, 63, and Steve Hackett, 64 – will appear together for the first time since 1975 in a BBC2 documentary, Genesis: Together and Apart.

A BBC spokesman said: “The film recounts an extraordinary musical story, exploring the band’s song writing as well as emotional highs and lows, alongside previously unseen archive material and rare performance footage from across their entire career.”

Famous for hits such as Invisible Touch and In Too Deep, the British group formed in 1967 sold 130million albums, putting them among the highest-selling recording artists of all time.

Sadly for fans an onstage reunion is not on the cards.

Peter Gabriel told Rolling Stone magazine: “It’s never been ruled out.

“I’m trying to picture a time when it would top my priorities list, though.”
