Nike’s after-hours gain would add 30 points to the Dow

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — If the rally in Nike Inc. shares NKE, +7.56% in after-hours trade Thursday holds, it would add about 30 points to the Dow industrials, which is a price-weighted index, at Friday’s open. Nike’s stock was up $4.64, or 5.8%, at $84.39 after Thursday’s close, on the heels of the sports gear company’s better-than-expected fiscal first-quarter results. Meanwhile, the SPDR Dow Jones Industrials Average ETF DIA, -1.53% was up 0.2% late Thursday.
