Could this be the most feminist trend from fashion month?

Kathleen Lee-Joe – March 6, 2015

Just when you though Gucci’s foot toupees were the strangest accessory to come out of fashion month, in comes boob bags. Yes, you read that right. At Paris Fashion Week, models sashayed down the runway carrying boob-shaped saddle bags.

These aren’t saggy vintage leather boobs either. These well-endowed breasts are decidedly high fashion, rendered in rigid moulded leather, suspended from a thin metal handle with a slight gunmetal sheen.

The statement feminist accessory comes courtesy of Christophe Lemaire, ex-creative director of Hermés, who yesterday announced his latest collaboration with Uniqlo.

And Lemaire wasn’t the only one to bear his breasts, so to speak, at Paris Fashion Week. That same day, Simon Porte Jacquemus showed too-hot-for-Instagram, definitely NSFW looks as part of his Jacquemus show. We suppose there’s nothing more French than going topless.

Lemaire’s tongue-in-cheek carryalls are especially surprising considering his designs are usually pared-back and conservative. The rest of the collection was heavy on the drapery and oversized shapes, featuring cream-coloured skirt suits, perfect trenches and no visible skin other than the models’ hands and faces.

We’ve already added the boob bag to our #FreeTheNipple must-grab covet list. And though we may not be able to afford the real deal, we’re hoping a diffusion version will hit Uniqlo soon.
