Germany’s economy is in a good shape and will grow by 1.8% this year and next despite risks stemming from the global economy, Chancellor Angela Merkel said Wednesday.
“Germany is in a good shape in the present months,” she said in the lower house of parliament’s debate on the government’s 2016 budget, pointing to the country’s strong economy and robust labor market.
Ms. Merkel also said the government is sticking to its goal of maintaining its budget balance until 2019.
