Two specialized sergeants were killed on Oct. 1 in an outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) attack in the Silvan district of the southeastern Diyarbakır province.

Around 7 a.m., a group of PKK militants wearing masks opened fire with automatic weapons on specialized sergeants Sinan Uçan and Tolga Topçuoğlu as they were getting in a car to go to the Silvan Tactical Gendarmerie Post, where they worked. Uçan and Topçuoğlu were immediately killed at the scene while the PKK militants fled.

A wide-scale operation has been launched to apprehend the militants responsible for the attack.
