Indonesia’s Java Wildfire Kills 7, Injures Two

At least seven people died in a forest fire on a mountain in the east of Indonesia’s Java Island, media reported Monday, citing local police.

According to the police department head, there can be more victims since the search and rescue operation has been suspended due to limited visibility.

“We have seven casualties, so far,” Johanson Ronald Simamora, the Magetan regency police chief, was quoted as saying by the Tempo magazine.

The wildfire on Mount Lawu, a dormant volcano, has also injured two hikers, according to the news outlet.
