Lamar Odom moved to specialized Los Angeles rehabilitation clinic

The next stage of Lamar Odom’s recovery from a life-threatening drug overdose will take place in a specialized Los Angeles rehabilitation clinic, a person with knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports on Friday.

The person requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter.

The former NBA player’s condition improved during the past few weeks, enough to convince doctors at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles that he is ready to begin a new phase of treatment and recuperation.

Odom was rushed to a Nevada hospital after being found unresponsive at the Love Ranch, a legal brothel in Crystal, Nev., following a three-day binge including use of cocaine and sexual performance enhancement substances on Oct. 13.

On Friday, US Weekly reported that Odom had left Cedars-Sinai and been “secretly moved” by his estranged wife, reality TV star Khloe Kardashian, to the rehab clinic at an undisclosed L.A. location.

The 36-year-old, a two-time NBA champion with the Lakers and a former Sixth Man of the Year, spent most of his time at Cedars-Sinai in the facility’s high security wing, reserved for celebrity patients.
