ISIS offensive in east Aleppo fails after day-long battle

Aleppo (1:15 P.M.) – The Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) launched a large-scale offensive in the eastern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate on Wednesday, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) defenses north of the Kuweires Military Airport.

ISIS began the offensive by storming the village of Nasrallah, which is situated just northern of the Kuweires Airport.

Following several attempts to break into the village, the Islamic State terrorists withdrew from Nasrallah’s northeastern flank, leaving their heavy weapons behind for the Syrian Arab Army to confiscate.

According to a military source at the Kuweires Military Airport, the Syrian Armed Forces killed an estimated 20+ Islamic State terrorists at Nasrallah, while suffering 18 casualties of their own.

The Islamic State’s official media wing “Al-Amaq” alleged that 40+ Syrian Army soldiers were killed at Nasrallah village; however, Syrian military sources denied these claims.
