ISIS storms Kuweires Airbase in east Aleppo

The Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) launched a new assault in the eastern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate on Wednesday, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) defenses just north of the Kuweires Military Airport.

ISIS began their assault by firing several ATGMs (Anti-Tank Guided Missile) at Syrian Army checkpoints near the village of Nasrallah, causing severe damage to these small military installations.

Following the missile strikes, the Islamic State terrorists stormed the Syrian Arab Army’s defenses at the eastern flank of Nasrallah village, resulting in a fierce series of clashes that are still ongoing at the moment.

If ISIS is successful in capturing Nasrallah village, they will be within striking distance of the strategic Kuweires Military Airport, which could result in the obstruction of the government supply route along the Aleppo-Raqqa Highway.
