Saudi Arabia, Turkey to discuss regional issues in Ankara

Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir will pay a visit to Ankara in a bid to display his country’s support and solidarity with Turkey after the July 15 foiled coup attempt, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sept. 7.

According to the statement, Al-Jubeir will meet with Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and will discuss bilateral and regional issues during his visit from Sept. 7 to Sept. 9. The visiting foreign minister will also be received by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, it said.

The visit comes after Turkey launched a massive cross-border operation into northern Syria to clear its border of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) jihadists. Both countries support Syrian opposition groups and the Free Syrian Army (FSA).
