Alvaro Morata is preparing to say his farewells to Real Madrid as he closes in on a move to Manchester United and reports suggest he is leaving the Spanish giants with a heavy heart.

Newspaper stories in Spain on Wednesday suggest Morata feels he has been driven out of the club he has been with since 2008, as he appreciates his chances of regular first team football are slim if Real Madrid’s star names are all fit next season.

Dario Gol are among those reporting that the Madrid-born 24-year-old feels ‘let down’ by the club he has devoted his career to, with Marca and AS both suggesting the fine details of Morata’s move to Old Trafford will be concluded this week.

Transfer talks over Morata’s move were stalled as the player got married in Italy, but it seems as if the discussions are now back on track after the striker flew to Madrid to try and resolve his future.

Real Madrid are believed to be holding out for a bid in excess of €80m before they sanction Morata’s move to United, with the player keen to make the move to Old Trafford.

United are eager to wrap up the transfer before their first team players return for pre-season training at their Carrington training base in the second week of July, with manager Jose Mourinho keen to have his key transfer business done by then.

Morta’s new wife Alice Campello caused a social media stir on Monday when she started following Manchester United on Instagram, with a deal for the striker likely to be concluded in the coming days.

Meanwhile, reports suggesting Chelsea are keen to hijack United’s bid to sign Morata are not concerning Old Trafford officials, who believe they are the only team in the frame to sign Morata.
