Chelsea Handler blasts Republicans for Florida high school shooting, says they ‘have blood on their hands’

By Paulina Dedaj –

Just hours after a lone gunman open fired on students in a Florida high school, killing at least 17, comedian Chelsea Handler took to Twitter to capitalize on the tragic incident and blame Republicans, saying that they now “have blood on their hands.”

Handler, a self-proclaimed political activist, posted a tweet about midterm elections, urging voters “to elect candidates that are not funded by the NRA” and “who won’t allow kids to go to school and get shot.”

We have to elect candidates that are not funded by the NRA in November. We have an opportunity to elect candidates who won’t allow kids to go to school and get shot. It is disgusting how many times this has happened and Republicans do nothing. You all have blood on your hands.

Twitter users fired back at Handler for using the shooting to advance a “political agenda.”

These shootings have NOTHING to do with access to guns or gun control or the NRA or anything but one thing everybody ignores because they want to use it for a political agenda only instead of doing something about the real problem which is mental illness and nothing else!

Can’t wait for the families to even begin grieving, can you?

You might just be the most clueless person to engage in political discussion of any kind ever. An excellent representation of the base left. Keep up the good work?.

One user praised Republicans for defending gun rights, arguing that guns themselves aren’t the problem.

I am not a Republican but I am a victim of a violent crime, I have a fire arm for protection. I appreciate the Republicans standing up for my right to carry. What exactly is it that you expect the republicans to do? If a criminal wants a gun, they’re going to get it. Period.

The suspected gunman was identified as 19-year-old Nikolaus Cruz. He was arrested shortly after opening fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
