Racing Point F1 Team car launch
- Full team name: SportPesa Racing Point F1 Team
- 2019 drivers: #11 Sergio Perez and #18 Lance Stroll
- 2018 result (as Force India): seventh in the constructors’ championship with 52 points
It’s a new era for the Racing Point Formula 1 team after they unveiled a new title sponsor and car to go with their driver line-up.
Last year there was much uncertainty surrounding the team – formerly known as Force India – after they went into administration.
However, they came out of administration after a buy-out from a consortium of investors and since the end of last season have been working hard on the new brand.
There’s high hopes for the team in 2019 with Mexican Sergio Perez joined by new driver Lance Stroll, whose father Lawrence is one of the investors.
Staying with the main pink colour theme Racing Point unveiled the livery for their 2019 challenger at an event in Canada on 13 February.
Speaking at the car launch Perez said of the team’s expectations: “Our targets are high and we are aiming for at least fourth this year. It won’t be easy, but I will be happy for a couple of podiums as well.”
Stroll added: “We want to be back on the podium and I am prepared to help the team achieve that.”
