YEREVAN, April 10. /ARKA/. Armenia’s two airports in Yerevan and Gyumri handled in 2019 February a total of 199,855 passengers, by 7% more than in the same month of 2018, the Armenia-International Airports company which operates both airports, said today.
It said when compared to March 2018, the passenger flow through Zvartnots international airport in Yerevan increased by 7.6% to 188,946 passengers against 175,605 in 2018 March.
As for Shirak airport in Gyumri, this past March it served 10, 909 passengers, down from 11,138 in March 2018. The drop amounted to 2.1%.
Since the beginning of the year the passenger flow through both airports have grown by 10.2% to 578,575 people. In January-March 2019, Zvartnots and Shirak airports have also recorded an increase of 8.3% in the number of takeoffs and landings, as opposed to the same period of the previous year.
Zvartnots and Shirak airports are run by the Armenia – International Airports in accordance with a 30-year concessional management agreement sealed with Armenian government. The company belongs to American International Airports, an Argentine company owned by Eduardo Eurnekian, an Argentine entrepreneur of Armenian descent.
