Basnews – ERBIL — The Kurdistan Regional Government wants to have “a genuine and constructive” partnership with the Iraqi federal government, said Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani.

“The KRG is fully committed to settling its outstanding issues with our federal counterparts, based on a clear understanding of both parties’ rights and duties as set out in the constitution,” the Kurdish PM wrote on Twitter on Tuesday after he concluded a visit to Baghdad.

PM Barzani met with Iraqi President Barham Salih, Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi, and Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi during his trip to the Iraqi capital.

It was Barzani’s first visit to Baghdad since he has taken office as the KRG prime minister last week.

Previously, he said the visit was a sign of good will from Erbil in the efforts to resolve outstanding disputes with Baghdad.
