YEREVAN, November 15. /ARKA/. The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), the executive arm of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), has formalized a plan of actions to harmonize excise taxes for EEU member countries, the head of EEU Board Tigran Sargsyan told RBC.
He said it was quite a lengthy procedure. ‘We have developed a consensus approach that allows us to move towards harmonization of excise taxes in stages. We have fixed a mechanism of approximation of excise tax rates by setting the indicative rate and the deviation range,” Sargsyan noted.
According to him, for each group of countries a sufficient corridor of deviation from the indicative figure is provided for. In particular, the tobacco agreement sets an indicative rate of € 35 per 1000 cigarettes and a single range of 20% down and 20% up for all countries of the Union.
