Administrative fees for passports and driving licenses in Turkey will increase by 22.6 percent for 2020, Gazete Duvar news site reported on Monday.
The cost of a Turkish passport will rise to 915 liras ($154) while a driving licence will cost 751 liras ($127), Gazete Duvar said, adding that the fee hike is comparable to yearly average producer price inflation.
Producer price inflation in Turkey has averaged 19.7 percent over the past 12 months, the Turkish Statistical Institute said on Dec. 3. It slowed from 38.5 percent in November last year to 4.3 percent last month after a currency crisis in 2018 slashed consumer spending power.
Turkey is seeking to raise revenue to help meet budget goals laid out in its New Economic Programme, announced in September.
