YEREVAN, January 23. /ARKA/. As part of cooperation with UNDP, about $9 million are to be invested in energy-saving systems in Armenian provinces this year, Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Minister Suren Papikyan told a government meeting on Wednesday.
He said the money will be used to make multi-apartment residential buildings energy efficient, to repair their roofs, basements, exterior walls and to strengthen them.
The minister recalled that in the framework of cooperation between the government and communities, subvention projects to the tune of 16 billion 378 million drams had been implemented last year. He said the government’s financing amounted to 9 billion 597 million drams. He said in 2019, the government had released 6 billion 366 million drams, based on efficiency and quality criteria, the rest will be released only after the faults found in the implemented projects were eliminated.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in turn, noted that 2020 is the most suitable time for a more focused resolution of issues of proportionate territorial development.
“Based on what we had achieved in 2018 and 2019, we can say that subvention projects should be the main driving force for the development of the regions,” Pashinyan said.
He said for the second year in row the government released 10 billion drams as its co-financing of subvention projects. ($ 1 – 478.9 drams).
