YEREVAN, February 8. /ARKA/. Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan received today a European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) delegation, led by EBRD Vice President Pierre Heilbronn.
Before the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister attended a ceremony for signing of a loan agreement with the EBRD on modernization of Meghri Border Crossing Point.
Grigoryan said the government was satisfied with the level of cooperation between Armenia and the EBRD, singling out the bank’s assistance to Armenia’s private sector, saying it is instrumental in the development of business culture in the country.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the EBRD’s programs in such areas as the development of the capital market, energy efficiency and alternative energy, as well as SMEs.
Heilbronn noted with satisfaction that EBRD’s annual meeting will be held in Yerevan in 2021, and said that he expects government assistance in organizing this high-level event.
He pointed out the need for steps for the effective implementation of joint programs and expressed hope that the programs , in the field of infrastructure development, will contribute to the implementation of government reforms.
The EBRD is a leading institutional investor in Armenia, which has invested 1.4 billion euros in 180 programs since its inception here in 1992.
