BEIRUT: The Ministry of Public Health confirmed on Wednesday the second case of coronavirus in Lebanon at the Rafiq Hariri University Hospital.

The second case was on a week-long religious visit to Iran and returned to Lebanon on the same flight as the first diagnosed case. She noticed the symptoms four days after her arrival in Lebanon, and since then, has been isolated in the Rafic Hariri University Hospital.

Currently, both recorded cases remain quarantined at the hospital and have a stable health condition, according to the Ministry of Public Health.

On Tuesday, the RHUH announced that over 32 people underwent Coronavirus examinations in the past 24 hours, of whom seven were quarantined at the hospital while the rest were given the necessary medical instructions and asked to isolate themselves at their homes.

According to Iran’s health ministry, the Coronavirus death toll has risen to at least 19 victims, and more than 139 infected patients, one of whom is Iran’s deputy health minister Iraj Harirchi himself.

A report from a cabinet meeting on Sunday, headed by Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab explained that unprecedented measures are being taken at the Rafic Hariri International Airport and at all border crossings and that the number of flights from and to countries with the Coronavirus outbreak has been reduced.

Nevertheless, a percentage of Lebanese are calling for the immediate suspension of all flights to and from countries dealing with the outbreak.
