Armenian foreign ministry issues list of countries should be avoided by travelers


YEREVAN, March 10. /ARKA/. Armenia’s foreign ministry issued a statement on Monday amid the treat of coronavirus in the world. “Taking into account the current situation with the new coronavirus (COVID-19), we urge Armenian citizens to refrain temporarily from traveling to Iran, China, the Republic of Korea, Japan and EU countries (particularly Italy, Germany, France and Spain) excluding very urgent cases,” the foreign ministry says in its statement.

The ministry calls on hose who visit these countries to follow the recommendations of Armenian health ministry and that particular country’s authorities.

According to, the number of people infected with COVID-19 in the world has already exceeded 111,200. The number of people killed with the coronavirus is 3,880. More than 62,100 people have been treated and recovered.

The first case of new coronavirus was confirmed in Armenia nine days ago. The patient is a 29-year-old Armenian man who was airlifted from Iran with his wife on February 28. Thirty two Armenian citizens who have had contacts with the infected man have been quarantined at the Golden Palace Hotel located in the resort town of Tsaghkadzor. All of them feel good. -0—
