YEREVAN, April 8. /ARKA/. The second round of presidential elections in Artsakh will be held on Tuesday, April 14, according to the official page of the Central Electoral Committee of Artsakh.
On March 31, presidential and parliamentary elections took place in Artsakh. In the presidential election, none of the candidates won the 50 + 1 votes necessary for the victory, in this created the necessity f the second round, in which the two candidates with the largest number of votes will race. They are Araik Harutyunyan (49.6%) and Masis Mayilyan (26.4%).
“At the CEC meeting, the schedule of preparation and the main events of the second round of the presidential election was discussed. The start of the election campaign is scheduled for April 9, 2020,” the committee reports on its official page.
On April 5, Mayilyan urged citizens not to go to polls in the second round of the presidential election due to the threat of coronavirus. He also noted that the elections held on March 31 were very far from the public expectations of Artsakh in the new conditions.
On April 7, the first case of coronavirus infection was detected in Artsakh.
