Armenian government approves 12th program to neutralize economic consequences of coronavirus shock


YEREVAN, April 15. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has approved today the 12th measure designed to neutralize the economic consequences of the coronavirus shock. According to its decision, the purpose of this measure is to assist a group of people who have been affected by the coronavirus outbreak.

The beneficiaries of the assistance measure are those households whose natural gas and electricity bills in 2020 February ranged from 10,000 to 30, 000 drams for the consumption of natural gas, and from 5,000 to 10,000 drams for the consumption of electricity.

Support is provided to each beneficiary in the amount of 30% of the bills. The total amount is transferred to the utility companies, which have to transfer them to the beneficiaries. If a household has a utility debt, this amount will be used to pay it off, and if there is no debt, the money will be cashed in for the household.

The government of Armenia has approved a total of 12 programs to counteract the economic consequences of coronavirus. Six are designed to show support for agriculture, tourism, SMEs, microbusiness and other economic sectors and six to support various groups of the population.

The beneficiaries of the 11th program are those households whose natural gas and electricity bills in February amounted to 10,000 and 5,000 drams respectively.

As of April 14, some 1,067 confirmed cases of coronavirus were recorded in the country; 265 people have recovered 16 patients died.
