Armenia’s average salary up 7.9 percent in five months

YEREVAN, May 26. /ARKA/. The average gross salary in Armenia in January-May 2020 increased by 7.9% from the same period in 2019 to 190,166 drams, the National Statistical Committee (NSC) said.

It said in May 2020, compared to April 2020, it grew by 1.5%, and compared to May last year – by 6.8%.
Over the first five months of this year, the average salary in the public sector grew more than in the private sector, although it could not overtake it in absolute terms.

So, in January-May 2020, compared to the same period in 2019, the average gross salary in the public sector increased by 8.7% to 162, 064 drams. At the same time, in May, compared to April 2020, it decreased by 2.7%, and in May of this year compared to May last year, it grew by 6.8%.

In the private sector in January-May 2020, compared to the same period in 2019, the average gross salary increased by 7.1% to 204,313 drams. At the same time, in May compared to April, it grew by 3.4%, and in May of this year compared to April 2019 – by 7.2%. ($ 1 – 480.08 dram) -0-
