Armenia’s foreign trade down by 11.2 percent in five months of 2020


YEREVAN, May 26. /ARKA/. Armenia’s foreign trade turnover in the first five months of 2020 slashed by 11.2% year-on-year to $2.539.2 billion, the National Statistical Committee (NSC) said today.

It said in May 2020, the foreign trade turnover when compared to April 2020, was up 13%, and down by 17.3% when compared to May 2019. The volume of trade in the first five months in Armenian drams stood at 1.227.6 trillion drams.

Exports in January-May 2020 decreased by 8.1% compared to the same period in 2019 to $886.2 million. In May 2020, compared to April 2020, it increased by 30.7%, and compared to May 2019 they were down by 30.7%. In drams, the exports in January-May totaled 428.5 billion drams.

Imports decreased by 12.8% to $1.653.0 billion when compared to January-May 2019. In May 2020, compared to April 2020, imports grew by 4.3%, and compared to May 2019, they decreased by 21.8%. In dram equivalent, the imports in January-May 2020 stood at 799.1 billion drams. ($1 – 480.08 dram).
