Georgieva added that although the IMF are putting their best people to work with Lebanon, “It has been a really difficult issue, and the core of the issue is whether there can be unity of purpose in the country that can then carry forward a set of very tough, but necessary measures.”

BEIRUT: Negotiations between Lebanese authorities and the IMF are ongoing but a breakthrough has yet to be reached, International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said Friday.

Georgieva added that although the IMF are putting their best people to work with Lebanon, “It has been a really difficult issue, and the core of the issue is whether there can be unity of purpose in the country that can then carry forward a set of very tough, but necessary measures.”
