Armenia’s confirmed COVID-19 cases rise to 41,701


YEREVAN, August 18. /ARKA/. As of 11:00 on Monday, August 17, there were 34,655 recovered COVID-19 patients in Armenia, the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention says in its daily report.

In total, 41,701 confirmed COVID-19 infection cases and 824 deaths have been reported in the country. This means that 38 new infection cases, 71 recovered patients and six deaths have been recorded since yesterday’s report.

The six people who died yesterday were four women aged 72, 82, 82 and 74 and two men aged 59 and 45. All of them had chronic diseases.

According to the report, 185,594 people have been tasted for the coronavirus since the beginning of the epidemic. As many as 5,978 patients are being treated now.

A state of emergency was declared in Armenia on March 16, 2020 to suppress the spread of coronavirus and then it has been extended five times. Thus, in accordance with the government’s latest decision dated from August 12, the state of emergency is in effect in Armenia until 17:00 on September 11.

At the same time, restrictions on free movement and some types of economic activity introduced from March 24 were removed from May 4, from May 18, public transport, gyms, kindergartens and catering facilities were resumed, and from August 12, entry was allowed to the country of foreigners and holding meetings and rallies, but with wearing a mask and observing social distance. -0—
