YEREVAN, August 18. /ARKA/. The introduction of the e-penitentiary electronic management system is one of the most serious reforms in the penal sphere, Armenian Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan said on Monday.
“It will provide the necessary information about the persons arrested and the legislative action against the convicted,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
In his words, this is related to all the functions, drawn up documents, information on parole releases, changes in punishment regimes, dating and training.
Badasyan said the whole process of taking fingerprints, photographing as well as video filming will be carried out in a digitized version and archived in individual folders.
Among the priorities of the automated system, he also indicated the possibility of obtaining reports in forehead format and carrying out analyses.
“Along with the work on activating the system, a corporate network has already been created between the central body of the Criminal Enforcement Service and 12 penitentiary facilities. The penitentiary facilities have been equipped with the necessary technical devices (computers, identification cards and equipment that read fingerprints, mobile cameras for digital photo and video filming). Appropriate software solutions are provided,” the minister said.
Badasyan also noted that advanced training courses for the staff of penitentiary institutions started on August 15.
The electronic control system “E-penitentiary”, interconnected with the electronic systems of other departments, will be fully operational from 2021.
