Baku/09.09.20 / Turan: As part of the agreement on military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey, joint large-scale tactical exercises with live fire were held on the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on September 3-5. Ground forces and combat aircraft were involved in the exercises, the press service of the Ministry of Defense said.
The purpose of the exercises is to expand the exchange of experience between the personnel of the units of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan and Turkey, as well as the special forces of the power structures of Nakhchivan.
According to the scenario of the exercises, the firing stage began with the neutralization of the enemy reconnaissance and sabotage groups by the special forces of the Nakhchivan border detachment and the State Security Service.
Further, rocket and artillery units and Special Forces units opened fire on enemy positions, and the troops of the Nakhchivan garrison, together with units of the Turkish Armed Forces, attacked and destroyed enemy personnel, armored vehicles and aircraft.
During the exercises, the tasks of joint planning of operations of the Azerbaijani and Turkish units, organization of interaction and comprehensive support of troops were solved.
The commander of the Third Army of the Turkish Republic, Colonel-General Sharaf Ongay said, “Joint exercises have become another expression of the Turkish-Azerbaijani brotherhood.” Because of the expansion of bilateral relations between the armies, training was carried out according to plan. The presence of modern weapons and equipment does not mean victory in the war. What is important is the presence of personnel who know how to use professionally these weapons and equipment. Brave and brave warriors win the battle. Today’s training is a vivid example of this. Accurate targeting during training is a source of trust for a friend and an eye for an enemy.
Up to 5,000 personnel were involved in the preparation and conduct of the exercises, and more than 2,600 people, more than 200 tanks and other armored vehicles, 180 missiles of various calibers and artillery pieces, rocket launchers and mortar launchers, 18 aircraft, helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles participated in the combat phase. more than 30 air defense systems.
To simulate enemy actions, about 800 targets and more than 90 models were used in 28 sections of the training ground; 100% of targets, more than 85% of targets and more than 90% of models were destroyed. Officers, warrant officers and soldiers who distinguished themselves in the exercises were awarded medals and valuable gifts.
