YEREVAN, September 30. /ARKA/. ‘We are doing everything to ensure complete security for Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh),’ Armenia’s Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan said in response to a question about whether Russia is now supplying weapons to Armenia, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
“Armenia is the only guarantor of the security of Artsakh and we are working with different partners to ensure sufficient opportunities to defend it. And it is simply ridiculous to hear accusations from Azerbaijan, which spends billions on arms in a bid to resolve this conflict by military means,” he said in an interview with BBC’s Newshour.
Mnatsakanyan said that Turkey’s intervention in the conflict is a big risk that will become a complete disaster for the entire region. According to him, if this happens, Armenia will have nothing left but to fight face to face against the enemy.
In response to the question about the extent of Armenia reliance on Russia in this context, the Foreign Minister said that Armenia relies on Russia and on all its other partners with whom it cooperates in the field of defense.
“Armenia works with many other partners. And they should remind that the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict is taking place within the internationally recognized format of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship, which consists of Russia, France and the United States,” Mnatsakanyan said.
