Earlier this month, a spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition stated that coalition forces had intercepted and destroyed an explosive drone launched toward Saudi Arabia by an armed Houthi political opposition faction.
Saudi state TV Friday reported, citing a spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition that the coalition had destroyed a drone launched by Yemen’s Houthis in the direction of the kingdom.
There was no immediate comment from the Houthis on the statement.
Attacks involving drones or missiles are frequently reported by the Saudi-led coalition and the Houthi rebel group, as Yemen continues to be engulfed in an armed conflict between government forces led by the president, Hadi, and Houthi militants.
Since 2015, the Saudi-led coalition has carried out continuing military operations against the Houthis at the request of the Yemeni president, who currently resides in Riyadh.
