Children of Armenia Fund raises more than $4.5 million to support Armenian villages and displaced residents of Artsakh

YEREVAN, December 11. /ARKA/. The Children of Armenia Fund (COAF) has raised more than $4.5 million in donations to support the Armenian villages and residents of Artsakh who settled there as a result of the hostilities. The funds were raised as part of the Moving Mountains online telethon, which took place on December 6 in Los Angeles.

According to a COAF press release, the donations will be used for the implementation of urgent educational, medical, social and economic projects in 64 villages of Armenia, including the SMART Center in Lori region.

The Fund will also direct part of the money for the construction of houses for the residents of Artsakh, who, as a result of military operations, are forced to move to the villages and communities of Armenia included in the list of COAF beneficiaries.

The Moving Mountains charity program was broadcast on the American channels ARTN and USArmeniaTV. The guests of the event were Armenian singer Iveta Mukuchyan, violinist Ara Malikyan, pianist Serouzh Krajyan.

Among the speakers were also a member of the California State Legislature Adrin Nazarian, musician Serge Tankian, American actors Eugene Levy, Sean Hayes, Martin Short and others.

From September 27 to November 9, Azerbaijani armed forces, backed by Turkey and foreign mercenaries and terrorists, attacked Nagorno-Karabakh along the entire front line using rocket and artillery weapons, heavy armored vehicles, military aircraft and prohibited types of weapons such as cluster bombs and phosphorus weapons.

On November 9, the leaders of the Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a statement on the cessation of all hostilities in Artsakh. According to the document, the parties stopped at where they were at that time. The town of Shushi, the districts of Agdam, Kelbajar and Lachin are handed over to Azerbaijan, with the exception of a 5-kilometer corridor connecting Karabakh with Armenia.

A Russian peacekeeping contingent has been deployed along the contact line in Karabakh and along the Lachin corridor. Internally displaced persons and refugees are returning to Karabakh and adjacent regions, prisoners of war, hostages and other detained persons and bodies of the dead are being exchanged.–0-
